Skiing, 3D movies, ice skating — yes, you can do all of those things at malls in Dubai. But you can also watch sharks as you shop at the Dubai Mall. The world’s largest mall is almost like a city it-self and a place you can easily spend a day. Visually speaking its very interesting because people seem to come from every area of the world. However, they all seem to be very rich … and so why not have swimming sharks next to them?

Skiing indoors, the world’s tallest building, islands shaped like countries — sure Dubai has that. But they also have enormous fountains shooting water hundreds of feet into the air.
The Dubai Fountain is a record-setting choreographed fountain system set on the 30-acre manmade Burj Khalifa Lake, at the center of the Downtown Dubai development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was designed by WET Design, the California-based company responsible for the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas. Illuminated by 6,600 lights and 25 colored projectors, it is 275 m (902 ft) long and shoots water 240 feet into the air accompanied by a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and world music.[1] It was built at a cost of AED 800 million (USD 218 million).

The world’s tallest structure building, Burj Khalifa, towers above nearby buildings in Dubai. The building reaches a height of 829.84 meters (2,723 ft) and unlike some of the other very large buildings in the world, the Burj doesn’t really have too many tall buildings next to it.
This gives it kind of a surreal look, as its just so much taller than anything near it.
Also, unlike The Patronas Towers, a building who once held he title “tallest building in the world” getting next to this building is not so easy. You can pay $100 USD to go up, but my attempt to stand next to it and look up, was thwarted by security guards who told me only residents can stand next to the building.

Skiing in a desert? Yep, you can do almost anything money can think of in Dubai. I’d been curious about this indoor ski hill for many years but until recently, had not had the opportunity to see it myself.
The ski resort, found in a mall in Dubai is pretty much this one slope … although they do have some live penguins at the bottom of the hill for kids to play with as well as a slide for tubing.
I can’t say its as steep as the hills I grew up at in Vermont, or those that I lived at at Lake Tahoe, but hey — its still skiing.

Just cause your wearing a burqa, doesn’t mean you can’t show some bling … at least displayed by this women with some hip sunglasses.
Dubai certainly has the most hip women I have seen wearing full burqas.

In the Dubai Mall shoppers can take a break … and go skating! Yes, skating in the desert. The world’s largest mall has a number of strange attractions you wouldn’t expect to see in the Middle East.
