382 DAYS - 365 PHOTOS - Photo 363, taken February 19, 2011, Bihar, India.
A man reaches for his dinner while a chicken flees for his life. An interesting experiment when traveling, is to always stop in at a grocery store regardless of where you are. Its one of those things that is just a great indication of culture norms of the area.
While I try to go to grocery stores when traveling, often times there are no stores and markets are the closest thing.
Here’s some thoughts from these experiences in India and in China.

This colorful chap is hanging out on the banks of the Ganges. The area is full with more colorful outfits, brides and people than anywhere I’ve ever been. It has to be one of the best places for people watching in the world.

382 DAYS - 365 PHOTOS - Photo 348, taken February 25, 2011, Varanasi, India.
A couple months back I wrote a post entitled “Kathmandu: The greatest place on earth to get lost.” While I still believe this hyperbole to be true, I do believe I have found a good match — Varanasi, India.
On the shores of the great Ganges river is the dichotomous land of funerals and tourism. Hindi people come to the banks of Varanasi to burn their dead before setting them to drift down the river.

Kids pose for a picture in rural Bihar state India. While photographing people in rural areas can be a bit challenging in some areas of Asia, in India its not a problem at all. Kids, adults and animals alike are happy to stop for a photo.

This photo from a blog post I titled “I’m Not Alone Here” detailing a trip to India in 2011. I wrote:
After avoiding it for some time, I’ve finally washed up in India. I’m not exactly sure why I’ve been avoiding India. Perhaps because the country is so big, I didn’t want to come here unless I had a good deal of time to explore. Perhaps I was scared off from travelers’ tales of Delhi belly. Or perhaps, I was scared of being trampled by the 1.1 billion people who call India their home.

375 DAYS - 365 PHOTOS - Photo 239, taken February 27, 2011, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.
Often referred to as the “blue city” Jodphur, Rajasthan from above is an amazing place. Small alleys connect the brightly colored city in a maze of ancient buildings.
Jodhpur(Rajasthani: जोधाणा; Hindi: जोधपुर), is the second largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located 335 kilometres (208 mi) west from the state capital, Jaipur and 200 kilometres (124 mi) from the city of Ajmer. It was formerly the seat of a princely state of the same name, the capital of the kingdom known as Marwar. Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, featuring many palaces, forts and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar desert.
